AMB Mesh Tops and Seamless Camisoles at CobwebClothing.com

Dancers love layers. Especially here in the Northwest, where it can stay chilly through June. It’s so nice to be able to shed layers as you warm up in class or rehearsal. Knitwear is an obvious layering choice, but sometimes you want something lighter to work with.
A few years ago, a company called AMB came out with a colorful line of sheer mesh tops that are basically a new version of an old standby. A working dancer’s invention, this old standy was a pair of tights that had the feet and crotch cut out so that they could be worn as a top. A layer – either worn over or under a leotard. The only problem was that dance tights come in a limited color selection. Well that, and the risk of running tights when you cut them. That’s why the AMB sheer tops are so fabulous. Many different colors, finished edges – these tops are stretchy, comfortable, affordable and fun!

New Centerstage Store Hours

People always ask if we are open on Sundays, and the answer has always been “no”, but we do have to admit that our store hours coincide heavily with the average person’s work and/or dance schedule. So, we have decided to expand our hours to include Sunday. Starting in May, we will be open on Sunday from 12PM-4PM.

To kick off our new store schedule, we will be having a 10% off everything sale on our first Sunday, May 6, 2007! So come on in. An extra bonus is that parking should be easier since most other businesses on the “Ave” (University Way NE) are closed.

Harmonie Dancewear and Knitwear

WHO IS HARMONIE?
Now affiliated with Capezio, Harmonie started off as a Seattle company created by Michel and Sylvie Mesnier, former Principal Dancers. Here are some of their thoughts about their company:

“We are originally French and this heritage make us feel deeply about design, culture, fashion and beauty. Harmonie was created 12 years ago out of our love for each other, our need to work together as we did for so many years as partners in Ballet and our need to create something beautiful. We are passionate about Dance, about life and we want to pass along the incredible feeling you get after a great performance or routine.
At Harmonie, we’ve created beautiful dancewear to help you feel and be your best all the time. Our aspiration is to offer a new opportunity to those searching for style and ease in their dancing life. Harmonie products reflect the professionalism, the quality in details and the touch of fun and fashion that are asked of any dancer.”

40 Days and 1001 Nights

An Arabic proverb says, “To understand a people, you must live among them for 40 days.”

Tamalyn Dallal presents:
40 Days and 1001 Nights,
Seeing the Islamic World Through the Eyes of a Dancer

When: May 5-6, 2007 @ 12pm NOON
Where: The Grand Illusion Cinema
1403 50th St (University and 50th)
Admission: $12/advance, $15/door
Contact: Tamalyn Dallal
Telephone: 206-226-3882
Email: tamalyndallal@yahoo.com
Websites: www.40daysand1001nights.com and www.tamalyndallal.com
Blog: http:40daysand1001nights.blogspot.com

The film:
This subtitled musical documentary, 40 Days and 1001 Nights, is a sensory feast of sights, sounds, music, dance and food. It is more than a travel film, rather Ms. Dallal goes into the lives in five diverse countries. Each section has an entirely different feel; Indonesia with its vibrant colors and the Acehnise ethnic rock sounds of Rafly, contrasted by images from the aftermath of the tsunami. Egypt’s Siwa Oasis is earthy, the colors of the desert, featuring a rare glimpse of music and dance in the completely separate worlds of women and men. Zanzibar shows a forgotten and decaying island with rich musical traditions, village weddings, and a long tradition of fishing from wooden dhows. Jordan will excite viewers with acrobatic dances, as well as ruined towns from Roman and Nabatean times. Lastly, the Xinjiang Autonomous Region of China delights with images of the Ancient Silk Road in modern times. The soundtrack is as important as the visual, and the scenes are choreographed to the music, like a dance on film.

Tamalyn’s CD “40 Days and 1001 Nights: Bellydance Music for Tamalyn Dallal” is available at Centerstage.

We just got in some of Danskin’s Summer Fashion line, and to tempt you to come check it out, we are offering a free Danskin tote bag with a Danskin purchase at our shop.
