Free Passes for Eagle vs Shark June 13, 2007

Centerstage has a limited number of free passes for a Sneak Preview of Eagle vs Shark on Wednesday, June 13, 2007. It will be at the Landmark Metro Cinemas at 4500 9th Ave NE in Seattle. The passes don’t guarantee a seat, so you must get there early.

Eagle vs Shark is the tale of two socially awkward misfits and the strange ways they try to find love; through revenge on high-school bullies, burgers, and video games.

Here’s the trailer:

Preparing for Summer Programs

Summer is around the corner, and with that come summer programs. Hopefully you have made your travel plans, but have you thought about what else you may need before you go and after you get there?

Before You Go:
Summer programs generally are complete dance immersions, meaning you spend the entire day dancing with an afternoon break for lunch. This leaves little time for much else, including doing fun things like laundry. So that you don’t have to cut into your relaxation time, you will want a least a week’s worth of dancewear - maybe even more if you want a change of clothing for the afternoon after the hard morning workout.
If you are doing a program that involves pointe, understand that one pair of pointe shoes won’t have a chance to properly dry out between classes, and this means that your shoes will break down a lot faster than necessary. Depending on the length of the program, you will need at least two pairs of pointe shoes for a week-long, and at least 3 or 4 pairs for longer programs. You don’t want to miss out on class because you don’t have the proper shoes. After all, you worked hard to earn the right to be there!
Don’t forget the little things! Be sure that you have plenty of hairnets and bobby pins. While these are really common things, you never know how easily you will be able to get around. Furthermore, when you are out of class, you will probably want to relax with your new friends and not have to run errands.

Other Considerations:
How far will you need to go between your lodging and class? If you will be spending a lot of time outside walking, don’t forget your sunscreen and good walking shoes.
What and where are the local food sources? Do you have any diet restrictions? Shannon at Centerstage said that one summer program she spent three weeks eating white rice and salad because nothing else was palatable. If you do a little research and preparation on this front before you go, you might be really glad once you’re there.
Be sure to allow some time in the evening to take care of your feet. After a strenuous day of dance, there is nothing better than pampering your feet a little bit. A little soak with some Epson salts and some Sweet Feet or Bunhead’s Foot Balm make a perfect end to an exhilarating day!

Centerstage is Open on Sundays!

Today is Sunday, May 6, 2007, and it is a special day at Centerstage because it is the first Sunday that we are open! Due to popular request, we have increased our hours to include Sundays from 12PM - 4PM.
We realize that our traditional store schedule conflicted heavily with the average person’s work and/or dance schedule, so we are trying to make it easier for us to help you. A happy bonus is that parking in the U-District is easier on Sundays, since so many other businesses are closed and there aren’t any time limits.

To celebrate our new store hours, we are having a 10% off of everything sale today only, so don’t miss out!

25% Discount on Pointe Shoes

For years Centerstage has had a discount program. Originally we tracked it on punch cards, but now we have switced over to a computerized point program that is more accurate and reliable. The program is simple. You earn a point for every dollar you spend on items that have not already been discounted. Once you reach 300, you get a 25% discount on an entire purchase of your choice. The program is free to join, and your points don’t expire, so you can accrue points as slowly or quickly as you like, but they won’t go away until you use them.
Since the punchcard/discount system has been around since before I took over Centerstage, I can’t say for certain, but I believe the original intent was to help people out with pointe shoes. Pointe shoes are expensive, and because their very nature is to break down, they need to be replaced frequently. We have decided to take the discount program one step further and are now offering a bulk discount for pointe shoes that won’t require you to use your regular discount points. From now on, if you buy 3 pointe shoes at the same time for the regular price, you will get the 4th pair for free. This amounts to a 25% discount!
This will be especially handy when preparing for summer programs, so don’t wait. Get the shoes you need for this summer today!
