Since it is the time of the year that a lot of dancers are starting pointe or may be returning to pointe after a litte break, it seemed like a good time to refer back to an article from our July 2007 newsletter on breaking in and caring for your pointe shoes.

This month we are paying tribute to legends of the past in both the Song of the Month and the YouTube Fun clip. Inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1997, this artist was not only a well-respected and prolific American songwriter, but she was also a singer and a dancer. The song for this month is “You’ve Got My Heart Doing A Tap Dance” by Cindy Walker.
“You’ve got my heart doing a tap dance
Everytime you smile a me.
It does a pitter patter pitter
Like a broken rhythm ditty
To a sweet melody.
You’ve got my heart doing a tap dance
That could beat up Fred Astaire.
It does a time step double
Without any trouble
When you say that you care.”
This song is available for download on eMusic. For a trial with

At this time of year, most people are thinking about what they need to be ready for dance classes, but we just wanted to remind you that Halloween is right around the corner. If you are planning on wearing a
costume this year, you might want to start thinking about what you will need in case you it’s something that will have to be ordered. For example, brightly-colored unitards, which make a great base for a costume, are not things that we normally stock, but we can order them for you with a 3 week turn around.
